WHAT IS TORSO AND CORE STABILITY?

Torso and Core stability relates to the bodily region bonded by the abdominal wall, the pelvis, the lower back, and the diaphragm and its ability to stabilise the body during movement. The main muscles involved are the transverus abdominis, the internal and external obliques, the quadratus lumborum and the diaphragm.

WHAT IS THE BENEFITS OF TORSO AND CORE STABILITY TRAINING?

Core stability is responsible for generating power, which can help you in other areas of your exercising program and help improved performances in your chosen sport. Insufficient Core stability can result in lower back pain, poor posture and lethargy but a good exercise programme can improve all of these negatives. Torso and core stability workouts usually involve the use of a Swiss ball, a mat, sometimes a medicine ball and usually involves the use of your own body weight.
